Very soon carbon credits from Ukrainian farmers will be available at the market. These carbon credits will have big differences to other available for buyers as they come from war country and from farmers who change technology under missiles, drones and bombs. The Carbon Credit Ukraine cover three years right from beginning of the full scale invasion in 2022. On February 24 Ukrainian borders were distracted and in a week on March 1st the same year CCU has started.

A Major Milestone of the Project: Validation Continues Despite All Challenges

We are proud to announce that the Carbon Credit Ukraine Initiative (#5278) has reached a significant new stage: the start of third-party validation under the Verra VCS Standard v4.7.

What makes this moment truly remarkable?

Earthood, a globally recognized validation and verification body, has joined as our official project validator. But even more importantly — they are not just validating from afar. Earthood’s team is preparing for on-the-ground audits across Ukrainian farms, covering over 300,000 hectares in 16 regions, in the midst of war. That’s more than a technical milestone — it’s a symbol of courage and commitment to climate action, no matter the circumstances.

The Carbon Credit Ukraine Initiative, developed by Ukrainian farmers and VS Group Ukraine in partnership with InSoil (formerly Heavy Finance), supports regenerative land management that reduces GHG emissions, increases soil carbon, and drives rural resilience.

Powered by the VM0042 methodology, the project is on track to cut over 10 million tons of CO₂e in its first 20-year crediting period — with real-world data, modeling, and monitoring.

Gratitude to Partners and Collaborators

None of this would have been possible without the partners who believe in building a climate-positive future — even during wartime.
A heartfelt thank you to the partners of the CCU project:

  1. To the InSoil team (formerly HeavyFinance), and especially to its CEO Laimonas Noreika and lead specialist Violeta Gevorkjan.
  2. To the team of the agrochemical laboratory “Prime Lab Tech”.
  3. To all regional managers of the Carbon Credit Ukraine Project, who made tremendous efforts to bring this initiative to life and continue to work diligently to ensure its successful implementation as soon as possible!
